Internal medicine

If you have any symptoms that concern you or if you’re not feeling well, please don’t hesitate to come in and talk with us. You do not need to worry about which specialty you should see for a particular symptom.

As a board-certified internist who also provides care in primary-care psychiatry, our director takes a comprehensive approach—assessing both physical and psychological aspects—to understand the underlying cause of your symptoms correctly and provide appropriate treatment. When needed, we coordinate seamlessly with nearby medical institutions and refer you to the right specialist in a timely manner.

If you prefer to seek a second opinion or transfer your care to another providers, we will promptly prepare a detailed and thoughtful referral letter that includes all the necessary information. Please feel free to let us know.

Below are some of the conditions we commonly treat. This list is not exhaustive, so please feel free to consult us about any concerns.

Lifestyle-Related Diseases

“Lifestyle-related diseases” refer to conditions influenced by daily habits such as diet, physical activity, smoking, and alcohol use. These include hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes, and hyperuricemia, heart disease (e.g., angina, myocardial infarction), cerebrovascular disease (stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage), and cancer. However, lifestyle factors are only one part of the picture—genetics, social environment, and other factors also contribute.

As a board-certified internist, our dierctor provides appropriate management and treatment for hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes, and hyperuricemia. Controlling these conditions helps prevent the progression of atherosclerosis and reduces the risk of heart disease and cerebrovascular disease.

Osteoporosis

Our clinic is equipped with bone densitometry that use the DXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) method to measure bone density to diagnose osteoporosis and determine fracture risk. DXA is a highly reliable method and is recommended in guidelines for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. We measure areas at risk of fractures in the lumbar spine and femoral neck, which can significantly reduce ADL/QOL in the event of a fall. The measurement is highly accurate, and the radiation exposure is about one-third of that from a chest X-ray.

Fever and Infectious Disease Visits

We accept patients with fever or symptoms suggestive of an infectious illness, regardless of whether they have visited our clinic before.

Tests Available for Febrile Patients
  • Rapid antigen tests:
    • Influenza
    • COVID-19
    • Group A strep
    • Mycoplasma
    • Pertussis
  • Blood tests
  • X-ray imaging
  • Urinalysis

If a new infectious disease emerges, we separate the consultation times for patients with and without fever. Even under normal circumstances, we take steps to keep febrile or symptomatic patients physically separated by adjusting waiting spaces and exam rooms.

To minimize wait times, we kindly ask that patients with fever, sore throat, cough, or similar symptoms make an appointment in advance (online or by phone) and let us know about your symptoms when booking. For infection-control purposes, please wear a non-woven (surgical-type) mask when you visit the clinic.

Pediatrics

We generally cater to school-aged children and older. However, please note that our clinic primarily focuses on internal medicine and rheumatology, and there may be cases we cannot handle medically or due to capacity. Please call or e-mail (contact@parkeastmed.com) us first to check if we can accommodate your needs before making an appointment.

Online consultation

We offer online consultations, as authorized by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Reservations can be made via the web or phone.
